Description*kzzzt kzzt* Shorting a bit here looking at the detail and thinking about what it took to do it! Second of a string of commission posts from the Inky Knuckles staple of artists. Here, Matt Allison!I’ve read X-Men off and on since a kid, and X-Tinction Agenda is one of my favorite arcs. Gritty story, great art, and Ioved the bad guy Cameron Hodge. So creepy cool, with the insect-like robot body, the tendrils, etc, but the still human face. Always with an evil grin, and those glasses :) Became a fave villain of mine and was on my list of characters to get commissions of. But hadn’t happened yet. Apparently I was waiting for Matt! Got that screaming human face, the spectacles, and…just look at all the tendrils and wiring. On top it almost looks like individual hair strands. And to the right and bottom, you’ve got more mech mixed with wires. On the left, a lil’ Krackle to top off. Just CRAZILY detailed stuff. I almost don’t want to think about the patience and persistence Matt had to have to complete! But I am glad he went there, of course :) Feel free to pore over lots as I have, just avert your eyes once in a while as they may get a tad strained :) Thanks, Matt! Social/Sharing |

This is perfect! I, too, always enjoyed Hodge the Villain, and Matt absolutely killed this piece!

I remember Cameron Hodge by name only, not visually. But nevertheless, these visuals are astonishing. I've been admiring many of the Allison commissions people have been posting in recent months and have noted how much I love his rendering style, which is especially effective on organic things. But with this piece, I'm thrilled to see his style lends itself just as well to mechanical textures as well!

Tried to look at this earlier before I had my first cup of coffee, and I just had to turn off my computer and walk away. LOL! Now that I'm awake and caffinated, I'm better prepared to take in all this amazing visual energy. Just a ridiculous amount of work here. Truly impressive.

Ha, yes, a lil' caffeine can go a long way, and I get why it was needed :) I sent Matt a note after I posted here on CAF and he said he loved working on this piece - it shows! "Labor of love" I think may be the perfect expression :) Thanks, Eric, and all, for the comments!

I love all the detail in this. I also love that it is tastefully balanced with a bit of negative space and a touch of Krackle. Looks awesome.

So now we know what the kid would look like if Ralph Snart and large Marge mated.

Cam let it drop, the art
And as it fell, I rose to claim it
It was dark X-Men Agenda
Until Matt inked those lips and amazed me
His hands, they're strong
But his teeth wired far too weak
To Hodge, Cameron
Without drawing both his feet
But there's a side to you
That Allison knew, that he drew
All the things displayed
They were never true, plugged into
And the games you play
You would Allison, always win
But I set wires to the brain
Conduits fuse as Ink brushed your face
Well, it burned while he cried
'Cause I heard him screaming out your name
Your name

Wild Cameron Hodge! He looks very intense, he must have found some errors in an excel document.

Allison is a madman and Hodge is tailor-made for his particular brand of insane genius. Love this, man!

Yeah, man, I gave Matt 2 options and I'm glad he went this way. "Tailor-made" is right! Thanks, brother!

Being Warren Worthington's roommate would drive any man into insanity leading to demon-granted immortality with your head attached to a robot spider-type body. This piece captures that perfectly.

Wowza! Allison kick so much ass with the detail he has in his work.
As I stare all I can hear is Immigant Song by Zepplin playing in my head.

Oh yeah, that's apt, man. Just took a quick listen, and yup, right from the intro I get it :) Thanks, E!

Wow, KG - this is an absolute horror (in the very best way, of course :) )! Mojo is one of those characters that was created with such a definitive and signature stamp by Arthur Adams that it is hard to imagine anyone else drawing him/it... Even other artists hew pretty closely to Arthur's model - and with good reason: it's an incredible design. But it feels like Matt shows that he's ready and willing to kick in the door here and announce a new Mojo on the block (and I absolutely love this). Matt went full techno here, and this is a Mojo drowning in / consumed by wiring and technology. Even more than usual (which is saying something...) It's like the dark side of one of Barry Windsor-Smith's 'Machine Man' covers. Not your father's Mojo, but a terrific, terrible, terrifying update. Yowza! Brilliant take, K! Congrats!

Thanks, man! Actually this is Cameron Hodge, and not Mojo, but I can see why you'd think that - they both definitely got that same creepy wirey look! And all your points...would all still stand I'd say :) And I didn't even think about that BWS Machine Man connection - totally see it! I do hope to get a page from that book one day. But hey, if not, I got this :)

LOL - I was so gripped by the art (and the cool take on "Mojo") that I just jumped right in, damn the titles on the torpedoes! D'oh! Apologies, but I was overpowered by the visuals here (uh, -below- the posted name of the piece. lol ;) ). Congrats again, K!

This is why I can't wait to get a commission from him, just incredible details and depth of textures. A feast for the eyes!
