DescriptionSince I first saw Mr. Kaluta work his magic on The Shadow series for DC, I always wanted a nice Shadow piece by him, but they were always either out of reach or someone else got them first. Not anymore! I was finally able to add a beautiful Michael William Kaluta Shadow to my collection and it is a beauty. There have been many artists who have given their own take on The Shadow, but Kaluta is in a class by himself. Enjoy!Social/Sharing |

Wow, this really is a beautiful sketch, Steve! It's interesting, because it's clearly not an "at home" finished commission, yet because of the fact that his finished style invariably uses a series of very wispy, illustrative lines, this sketch still carries the hallmarks of that line work you see in his finished art. Also, a gun in each hand, one pointed up and the other pointed forward really improves the composition of the piece dramatically. Kudos, man!

Thank you, sir! Yes, definitely looks like a con sketch but, has a very finished, illustrative feel to it. Now I can cross another "must have" piece off my bucket list!

Thanks, Alex! Maybe one day you could get Kaluta to do a Sugar & Spike Meets the Shadow cover! How dark and moody would that be??

LOL! That would be awesome, but I'd be pressing my luck with Mr. Kaluta. It took him 5 years to do this for me as KS perk.

Kaluta's thin line construction is stellar and The Shadow is the one comics character we can all agree is his best.

Ever wonder how he goes to the dentist?
"Open your mouth wide Sir".
"It is open".

Kalura sites great .45's, which stands out for me. Anytime the Shadow is getting ready for action is great. It is well done.
