The brush ink work resembles the old school techniques and gives us a grand presentation of illustrative adventure.
Stunning work by Mark Schutlz. His dry brush technique reminds me a bit of Alex Raymond's dry brush period on Flash Gordon. It gives the finished art a feeling of depth and richness.
Mark Schultz was never the most productive artist but he's a master at his craft.

Wow, never seen this before. And this actually came out somewhere between XT #10 and #11 beleive it or not- that probabty works in your favor as Mark's technique was really refined at this point. This might have been his peak.
Yeah, he was all about the dry brush work and drawing and inking in a very old school, illustrative style reminiscent of guys like Frazetta. Cool!
