DescriptionLadies Week continues!Elektra battles a mysterious, lightning quick foe in this awesome four-panel page by the great Mike Deodato. On the next page (see add'l pic), the formidable foe turns out to be Nina McCabe, someone Elektra thought was dead. Elektra (in shock): "I saw Kuroyama rip out your heart!" Nina (with a malevolent grin): "They put it back ... and something else as well." Ah, Marvel, you just can't let anyone stay deceased, can you. And you do love your reincarnation mysteries. I just love how beautifully Deodato draws Elektra, so I'm always happy to add another page like this to my collection. See you tomorrow! Social/Sharing |

So...this page doesn't suck, eh? A top shelf example in fact! I particularly love how he drew McCabe in a sillhouette but but simultaneously showing the reader just how quick she is. Excellent choice for this week's theme!

The intensity of that first panel is really cool! Sai right through the window with a nice angle used. She's so frenetic she almost kicks HERSELF in the head in another panel. Duck! Great battle page, Paul, as you do.

Two zombie bad girls with shapely curvey figures playing fast and loose with big pointy sais! This epitomizes the bad girl era at Marvel!

I love ladies week. Great looking page. I love the non panel selection in the top right with a box in the background simulating explosive action almost outside a panel. Lots of fun.

Thanks for the comment! I love ladies week too :)
That's a great observation about that second panel. Kind of like the artists were saying, "Ya know, we're not gonna muddy up this awesome action image with unnecessary background stuff ...let's just put a rectangle there, kind of as a frame."

This series had some of the best art of Deodato's career in my opinion, and this page certainly helps to back up that opinion.

Really terrific Deodato Elektra page, Paul! Fantastic action, with some beautiful inking by Scott Koblish (especially that outstanding second panel; that one really takes the page over the top). One of the finest Deodato Elektra examples I've seen (where some of the 90's "anatomy choices" are kept in check... a little. :) Much to the page's strength, I think). Another great add, Paul!

I didn't read this series when it came out but I can see, with these Deodato posts here on CAF, why there's a strong contingent of legit fans! Great action scene storytelling here, and I just love how her hair flows throughout. Congrats!
