Description

The commission splurge of 2022 continues. This time Chuck Patton steps up to the plate. Chuck Patton of Justice League Detroit and Teen Titans Cyborg fame. I wasn't looking to get a commission from Mr. Patton but I happen to be on Facebook when he posted he was taking commissions. Seeing a recent Hawkman commission he did, that looked great, I knew I wanted him to take a crack at my two favorite characters.

The experience was smooth and quick. Emails you a rough for approval. Three week turnaround for two commissions. I opted to keep it pencils only as Chuck does not ink his own work. Right choice.

Here we have a gun toting Jonah Hex. If I didn't know Chuck had drawn it, I would have said it looks like Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez. High praise from me. A classic Jonah Hex, clean lines and a clean style.

It came out really great! I'm glad you posted the info you did because before I read it, I was intrigued by the fact that it looked like it was purposely pencilled for someone else to ink it! But since he didn't include all the distracting little x's, I'd leave it like this if it were mine. There's a nice, loose spontaneity to it that I think almost any inker risks "stiffening up".

A nice one where he tightened the pencils up himself with the shading rendered providing more mass and weight to the heroic pose. Patton's art has definitely come a long way since the Tales of the New Teen Titans story arc.
