Really fortunate to own both Flash Rebirth #1 Covers!

This is Ethan Van Sciver's cover to a monumental comic book, Flash Rebirth #1 (2009), the first to title feature Barry Allen as the Flash since 1985. It's a powerful cover with a large image of the Flash preparing to go back into super-speed action a generation after his last solo saga!

About the Return of Barry Allen as the Flash

Looking back on it over a decade later in a world where Barry has had his own successful TV series for seven years (and counting) and has appeared in a major motion picture, Justice League, it's hard to believe that DC kept such a major character dead for 23 years, killing him off in 1985's Crisis on Infinite Earths #8 and not bringing him back until Final Crisis #2 (2008). But that's what happened--the character who launched the Silver Age and one of DC's top half dozen most well known heroes was replaced by his now grown-up kid sidekick, Wally West/Kid Flash, who was launched in a new title in 1987 which ran for over 200 issues! Writer Geoff Johns became a superstar for DC with his work on Wally's title as well as the JSA title featuring the original Flash, Jay Garrick, but he wanted to be able to write DC's most iconic version of the Flash, so Barry finally came back. Johns already had great success bringing back Hal Jordan, who had been dead for many years as well, starting with the 2004-2005 Green Lantern: Rebirth mini-series. So in 2009, Johns and artist Ethan Van Sciver (who had become a superstar working with Johns on Green Lantern), launched Flash Rebirth, which put Barry Allen back in his own comic book almost a quarter of a century since Flash #350, the final issue of Barry's classic run. The series was a hit and the Flash has been one of DC's top-sellers ever since.

Nice! I actually went hard after this one, but I guess when I have to go up against the hobby's biggest Flash fan, my chances were lower than I expected! Congrats, man.

I was a Wally West fan but it was so satisfying to see Barry return after 2+ decades in the cooler. This cover was a fitting way to signal his return. Congrats!

I was literally just wonder where this cover went. One of the few I'm sad I let go but knowing it's here makes it better. Still love it. Congrats!

I love Ethan's Flash. it was such a boost for when this series came out. No matter where Ethan sit's politically I think his artwork and inking are fantastic. just look at the muscular outline as the speed force krackels around him. Yes I also went after this piece. LOL
