DescriptionFlash and Green Lantern are my two favorite DC characters, but Green Lantern/Green Arrow was an incredible pair starting with Neal Adams and Denny O'Neil and then Mike Grell tackling. While I may never be able to afford this cover, this reimagined painting is fantastic! This is a MIke Grell recreation of his 1977 cover to Green Lantern #97 illustrated in ink and market on board. It features a great image of a ghostly Green Arrow coming out of large Central Power Battery on Oa to attack Green Lantern (Hal Jordan). Grell started working at DC in 1973, soon after Neal Adams parted ways with DC following the 1972 cancelation of Green Lantern, which for the past couple of years had featured Adams' famous "Green Lantern/Green Arrow" stories written by Denny O'Neill. As the DC artist closest in style to fan-favorite Adams, Grell worked on back-up feature stories featuring Green Lantern and Green Arrow in separate adventures. When the decision was made to revive the "Green Lantern/Green Arrow" series starting in 1976's Green Lantern #90, Grell was the natural choice to illustrate both the covers and the stories. The artist produced several memorable covers, including the one recreated here. Social/Sharing |

That golden image of Green Arrow emerging from the power battery made the original cover pop and works so well here too. I love the additional details added in the reimagining of the background imagery which heightens the impact of the scene.

man you can see mike's finger print all over this without even having to ask. I love the fact he has Green Arrow as the yellow light(hal's power rings only weakness) Against the green of the power lateren is a instant eye catcher.even the off coloe planets in space give it a contrasting flare.

This is a stand out recreation. This should have been up for one the best pieces of 2022. Grell kills it with the vibrant colors. This really catches the eye. Brilliant choice. Loved Grell on GL/GA.

Someday, I want a Mike Grell Green Lantern/Green Arrow cover . . . and then I want a pony, then I want to discover cold fusion, then I want to go on a date with Jane Seymore, back when she was Serina.
