It's a classic after Kirby. It's not as slick as Sinnott and not as slick as his own style, so Layton is really going for the effect to show us the darker and more crazed look!

100 % right Marcus Bob's job here is not to overpower the Kirb aspect but give it a darker feel that Doom is crerating something horrible in his labatory to throw at the unsuspecting hero's
