Description

The culmination of the multi-issue story unfolds with the arrival of The Mad Thinker, only to find that, once again, his ultimate triumph out of reach, as his too many unforeseen x-factors have scuttled his calculations (as seems to happen quite a bit when the Fantastic Four are involved...)

It's interesting to see on the original art that in the lower right corner of that amazing middle panel the artists seem to have drawn Johnny Storm (even though the Torch is circling around the android) instead of Counter-Earth Reed Richards. In the published comic they tried to cover it up with hair color, hoping since it's from behind it wouldn't be noticed.

Nicely framed on the top to squeeze towards the Mad Thinker's close up! Sinnott's inks is the continuity that brings that great tradition to the series.

Very cool. I always loved the Mad Thinker as a villain. So I really love this FF page showing one of those classic moments in which (as usual) the Mad Thinker's plans go slightly awry. Gorgeous work by Buscema and Sinnott.
