Q&A with Michael Lovitz

Which piece in your gallery is your favorite and why?

I have many, many favorites, but right now it would have to be the Art Adams FF 100 reinterpretation - my present to myself for my 50th birthday, Art just went so far above and beyond - the piece is insane. I just love to look at it and marvel in the many small details he put into this masterpiece. An extremely close second is the New Teen Titans poster painted by George Perez.

Please tell us a little about yourself.

I am an intellectual property attorney, originally from Philadelphia and living in Los Angeles with my husband since 2006. I'm happy to say that I have many clients in the comic book industry, so that I get to work on comic book related projects or matters almost every day.

How long have you been collecting comic art and what prompted you to start?

I've been collecting seriously since 1989, although my I secured first piece of art while in high school, July 1980, when I waited in line for Walt Simonson, who drew an awesome Thor (this was shortly after his first run on the book in the late 70s, and long before his much-lauded ground-breaking return to the title in 1983)

How do you display/store your collection at home?

Just a few framed pieces are hanging on walls; the rest are stored in Itoya books

What are your top five most wanted original pages or commissions?

Fantastic Four 100 cover (I have several homages by various artists, but would love the original...) A Thor cover between 263 and 266 Fantastic Four 176 pages (esp. the pages with Marvel's staff) Fantastic Four 165 cover (and pages) Fantastic Four 184 pages
