Description

Wonderfully vibrant and controversial piece - part of a signed and limited edition of 100.

Dave created this piece to highlight the usage/plundering of original talent and skill in the comics field (in this case, Irv Novick's original comic book panel which Roy Lichtenstein pretty much ripped off and copied in his most famous painting 'Whaam!') by the 'highbrow' art world.
The traditional comic book zipatone background dots have been replaced by thousands of $ signs, further reinforcing the fact that 'fine art' has profited off the backs of other forms without acknowledging the debt.

Gibbons, ever the gentleman, gave profits from the sale of these signed original art prints to the Hero Initiative supporting comic creators in 2013.

A great and timely piece of work and a very worthwhile cause.
