This cover to Azrael #98 is a reinterpretation of Zeck & Ordway's cover to Azrael #92 (which I also own) with the characters switched up. A beautiful matching set of Zeck covers.

I personally hate the colors on the published version of this cover, but the OA is something to behold.

Turnabout is fair play! I remember when these first went on sale. Little did we know they would be some of the last Zeck published pieces offered.

Yes it is! Not an exact switch of characters though... On the cover to #92 Jean-Paul Valley Azrael (in the Az-bat costume) is being sliced up by the spirit of Saint Dumas. On this cover Jean-Paul Valley Jr. Azrael is slicing up his father's (Jean-Paul Valley Sr.) version of Azrael. A symbolic progression of the storyline as Azrael is always trying to find his identity.

Ha! I think I've pretty much exhausted the market (and my budget) for now on Azrael covers. These Zeck covers were a must for me though and I was thrilled to get them (both from different sources). Just one more early Kitson cover in my secret stash right now and that's the last of them at this point. 😅
