If you thought it was a recreation of the cover of All-Star Squadron Annual #2 --- well, not quite. It's the latest in my "alternate and unpublished covers" commission series, working up early layouts and/or rejected cover designs into the full covers which *might* have seen print in different circumstances. In this case, it uses a layout which Jerry Ordway posted on Twitter in 2017, which got as far as being inked but was then replaced by a different design before printing. It's not clear why, but I'd guess that it might be related either to the fact that this version doesn't have space for the "Guest-starring Infinity Inc" banner or the "by Roy Thomas and Jerry Ordway" credits, or because, even more so than the published cover, it almost makes the heroes the secondary characters on their own cover.

Regardless, in my view it's an excellent alternative design, which I thought deserves to see print, and Bambos Georgiou did his usual spectacular job in working it up into a full cover, adding the appropriate logos and (at my request) including the "There's No Stopping Us Now" corner box, which was used on the preceding and following issues of the main series (#26 and #27).

Very beautiful action packed design for the cover that stays within the early 80's style! The masthead used only for those few classic years of Annuals is nostalgia enough before seeing the UPC box.
