Description

My newest project AX-WIELDER JON has been in development for 2+ years. It's a series of 5 graphic novels about a faceless barbarian cursed to fall in love with the heads of his many victims. It's the first project I'm both writing and drawing and a story I've been pretty uncompromising about as its very dear to me, after coming up with the concept when my first daughter got sick. That said, I've never pitched or brought the book to a publisher and instead have sought to produce it all on my own. I gambled in the crowdfunding arena and had a very successful first campaign, breaking 200k, thanks in large part to original art collectors here on caf, whom I can never thank enough (and my incredible rep Felix Lu who I owe so much). The first volume is finished and will be out very soon. Starting this project I knew I needed something really special for all of the hardcover volumes, to make them stand out, and give the project the prestige that my own silly detailed art could never achieve. Das Pastoras is a Spanish master painter and has been working in comics since Metal Hurlant, he's calaborated with famed writer Alejandro Jodorowsky, and tackles violent subject matter with a level of skill that heightens his stories into an almost ethereal realm. I own a page from a Punisher story painted by him that's simply fantastic and I never dreamed I'd be able to collaborate with him myself. Lucky for me that dream came true, thanks in large part to colorist Jos� Villarrubia, Pastoras's friend and agent (and interpreter) here in the states. I've commissioned 6 covers from Das and have him scheduled to do all of the epilogue sequences in Ax-Wielder Jon. Being a degenerate art collector, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to buy all of the covers as well and the first complete epilogue sequence hand painted by Das. So with all that said, here's a dream come true, AX-WIELDER JON volume one cover by the Spanish master Das Pastoras! Thank you Jose, Das, Bill Cox, and Felix Lu.
