DARK HORSE COMICS: EARLY HOUSE ADVERTISEMENT ART

Chris Warner illustrated this promotional "house" ad in 1987 showcasing the early character's who helped to establish Dark Horse Comics as one of the top "independent" comic book companies of the past 35 years. Characters shown include Concrete, Mask, Black Cross, The American, Trekker and a few others that helped to separate Dark Horse from a litany of other black and white comic book publishers who sprung up like weeds following the success of Mirage's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. That 1984 release demonstrated that you didn't need to be a big corporation to successfully publish comic books for the direct sale market. Dark Horse demon.
