Green Arrow "The Black Box III: On the Cheap."

Green Arrow has always been one of my favorite characters. I started buying Green Arrow title pages pretty early on, they weren't in demand and were pretty cheap. Before I knew it I had quite a few of them. Without knowing it I ended up with three consecutive splash pages from the "Black Box" storyline that ran in the back of Detective Comics.

I looked up the "Black Box" and it ran four issues. I'm missing the last chapter splash. Like I said it wasn't something I set out to do, it was just a happy coincidence. Maybe it will pop up in the future and I'll have a chance to buy it. Until then I'm happy with what I have.

In this chapter, Shawn Mcmanus takes over the penciling from Chuck Patton.

That's what happens when you focus on collecting what you love. If it ends up being art with characters most people barely care about, they you get to accumulate quite a bit of amazing art over time and if collectors stop to smell the roses every once in a while like you do, they also realize they're happy with what they already have and anything that comes after is a bonus. Sweet, McManus Green Arrow splash!

Fun title page by McManus with an intro problem resolved swiftly by action. It makes for a great self contained display piece.
