As a kid, Kane was the very first artist whose work I learned to identify on sight.  That flying figure of Tomar-Re in the second panel probably became a template for so many artists that followed.  And of course you have the iconic ring charging oath in the second panel.  Great page!

A classic early Oath page that reinforces the template for how it would be done for decades to come.  The dramatic lighting and the rays of energy radiating out and the form of shadows on the lantern to make it so solemn and resonate through time.  Kane and Giella, while serious in tone, balances it out with the cartoony creature and high flying action!

The beauty of Gil Kane superheroes in flight will always be an indelible image for this '60s kid. And this beautiful page epitomizes it perfectly.

A fantastic early GL page. Tomar-Re is a personal favorite of mine.

I love a good oath page and this has got to be one of the earliest that I've seen! Love it.
