Description

Ferd Johnson : Moon Mullins Daily Comic Strip (News Syndicate Co., 1969). Ferd Johnson, longtime assistant on Frank Willard's "Moon Mullins", came into his own as signature author-artist upon succeeding Willard. Apart from streamlining the drawing style (especially when assisted by son Tom Johnson), Ferd's most significant change was to drop the continuing storylines in favor of a self-contained gag-a-day approach. This generous selection provides a representative cross-section of the Mullins gang, Johnson-style, from 1969. Created in ink over graphite on Bristol board with image areas measuring approximately 16.25" x 5". With light handling and edge wear, faint toning in the margins, text and image paste ups (some which are loose), small pinholes, soft corner bumps, and nicks along the edges. Average in Very Good condition.
