DescriptionWon this page on Heritage and it was basically a whim with my bid and I won. The page has many pluses and minuses for me.The huge plus is pencils by Jim Starlin, whose work in my younger days was something I always looked for in buying comics. Jim came on the scene in the seventies as I was in my 20's and his work was always fun and was tagged as "cosmic". I would classify it as space operas. Another big plus is the number of DC C/D list characters, which are my favorite - Starman (the outer space version and Ditko version in my mind), Adam Strange, Captain Comet and The Weird. The negatives for me is the page is a quiet page and while the characters are on the page it feels rather bland. The virgin art is the problem on this page as with the dialogue I believe it would work better. The last issue I have is Al Milgrom as the inker. It is truly not a bad inking job but I guess I feel I never was a fan of Al's art, which causes me to sometimes I feel Al was not always the best inker. Of course it is commercial art and maybe Al was the last second hero willing to ink five pages overnight or whatever the case maybe. I could go into a long diatribe and Vinnie C. Overall not a bad "starter" Jim Starlin page and one day I may go for a higher end Starlin page. Social/Sharing |

It's actually the classic pairing of Starlin and Milgrom (Jim and I signed Gemini on their covers) back in the day on Warlock. It's about 20 years after that time period, but cosmic stuff by these two together is a big selling point to many just for the names alone.

No I get it - Milgrom's inks on Starlin worked - but feel like his art was never a draw and his inking IMO did not match well with some other artists
