DescriptionJay asked me how I knewMy true love was kush Oh-oh-oh-oh, I, of course, replied "Stems and buds inside A joint gets us high" (Ooh, ooh, ooh) Jay said, "Matt Wagner's lines my glaucoma blind" Oh-oh-oh-oh When your reefer's fire You must colorize Smoke gets in your eyes So, I blazed them As I Mary Janed To think they would doubt our love Yet today, my roach has gone with Jay I am with toke my love (with toke my love) Now, airhead friends deride Tears, not legalized Oh-oh-oh-oh So, I smile and say "Silent Bob vaporize Smoke gets in your eyes" Smoke gets in your eyes Smoke gets in your eyes Smoke gets in your eyes Spoiler: I don't partake. Matt Wagner was one of the artists in the first View Askew comic, Clerks #1 from Oni Press. He was there doing these types of color pencil on textured color paper drawings at Oakland Wondercon 1999. I didn't know at the time, but all big cities are too dangerous as I've now been told. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on 'em. "Gimme five bees for a quarter," you'd say. Now where were we... oh yeah. At the same Wondercon were Kevin Smith, Joe Quesada, and Jimmy Palmiotti to promote Marvel Knights Daredevil. It was supposed to be a ticketed signing, but I got it signed by Smith as the last person hanging around their table before the con closed on Sunday. He got a kick out of it and turned to Wagner who was sitting a few tables away and said he liked the pink used for the dog’s junk. Social/Sharing |

I did put in the chat later on that I would, after I found this piece.

This is a triple win. Great 420 piece, great Wagner piece, and of course you can't go wrong with Jay and Silent Bob. This would make a great T-shirt.

Lol, your description was good, man, right from "my true love was kush" - you gotta sing it like the talented Platters :) Fun piece, too - really like seeing colors against a darker textured board. Easier said than done to pull off, "nooch". Congrats, man!

Snoochie Boochies Marcus.
it was the year of our father 1900 and 76 in JA
when i first met my mary quite contrary to what Matt Wagner did say
she was a mountain girl come to bay area town
i was only there for a while
but when i think back on all the love we shared
i just cant quite help to smile
we spent one whole long year together
and at the end i had to go
by my Marcuses side i wept and cried i'd never been layed so low
she said, Jay when you first met me
you were as green as a mango tree ooohh
but now you are a man go back to your land
but first listen carefully,
and Silent Bob can smoke two pounds of cali herb by himself
then try to stand on his head
no matter how high he gets
he'll never forget the wonders of mary's bed

That is a fun and sharp drawing in an unforgiving medium! Must not have been under the influence when he put pencil to paper

Snoochie boochies, Jay and Silent Bob are the best! And this is a fantastic illustration! I love the song you chose for one of your famous alternate lyrics parodies. I'm gonna learn that one on the piano next.

Oh, too, TOO cool. Love the colored pencil on the textured paper! I love how Matt uses this piece to reveal to us that deep down, Jay and Bob are really supporters of the Boy Scouts (that's why there's the fleur-de-lis behind them, right?)... More gangsta than manga! More bongo than gangsta! More ganja than bongo! Awesome, perfectly-timed post, Marcus!

Cool piece I'm also big fans of Jay & Silent Bob! My social media profile right now is a pic with Kevin Smith from a recent comic book store appearance. Funny how the mascots for smokin weed no longer smoke themselves! Hopefully they keep doing more Jay & Silent Bob!!
