Donatello and April O'Neil, "Leatherhead: Terror of the Swamp" Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) animation cel

From the third season Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Fred Wolf Films) episode "Leatherhead: Terror of the Swamp," this cel features April O'Neil and Donatello examining a mutagen-enhanced swamp pond, which grants it bizzare fountain-of-youth abilities. April's vain instincts are to jump in, hoping to ride herself of some wrinkles but Donatello warns her that humans might be more adversely affected by the pond's effects than mutant Turtles!

These appear to be two painted acetate cels layered over each other and again over a background print. When comparing it to the finished animation frames, April reaches the frame seen here about three seconds before Donatello reaches his specified frame. Also, the finished episode looks to me to layer several frames of Donatello's head atop a stationary body in order to save on animation resources. Fortunately, the full cels appear to be intact on this example.

In this case, the the supplied background basically matches the episode context. These cels were sold framed in mats and protective plastic sleeves at various toy and department stores throughout the early 1990s under the "Animation Art" label. This set was scanned inside the sealed plastic sleeve, so the image clarity suffers a bit. Also attached are two screencaps from the VUDU digital copy, showing the approximate cels in their final form around the 16 minute, 5 and 8 second marks.
