Description

Frank Hamilton (Franklyn E Hamilton 1918-2008) was a major pulp collector who did not get published as an artist until after age 50, at first in fan publications, and the later as a paid professional. Much the same as the still-with-us Stephen E Fabian, he has kept alive illustration styles of the early 20th century pulp era.
This piece here, 'Spook Hole' (1998, 7 x 8.75") is #7 in his 'Baumhilton" series of tributes to Doc Savage artist Walter Baumhoffer

Very nice work with this textured board to get in the right shading to the different levels of depth here! You can feel the impact of that uppercut!

Beautifully done art. Great technique at work here. While it's Doc Savage, it makes me think of Jack Reacher too. Those are fun to read.

Agreed! (also, big JR fan, although not the last few since his broither has shared writing chores, which I suspect he already was doing for a few before those)
