Description1-2023...Proud to add a piece from the leader and innovator of the comic art medium! Very cool graphic novel page along with prelim drawing showing just how versatile and talented an artist Eisner was.From the listing description... WILL EISNER. "Street Smarts" (2 pieces) from City People Notebook (1989). The stand-alone "Street Smarts" appears on page 75 of the Kitchen Sink Press edition of City People Notebook, or page 71 in the new Norton edition. Medium/Size/Condition. The preliminary page is drawn in blue and black pencil on 8.5 x 11 inch paper. The inked page is drawn in brush, pen and ink on a lightweight Bristol board measuring 11 inches wide by 14 inches high. The solo page makes fun of big city residents tendency to avoid eye contact. The pencil is close to the finished version except for two elements. Originally Will Eisner's text was written essentially as four stark rules of city life, in all-caps, but then he tempered them into observations. The last two panels were expanded to ill the space far more effectively in the final. Both originals are in excellent condition. Social/Sharing |

Eisner's views and cartooning speaks truth and will more than likely be timeless with how people engage with each other in society. It is why his works are enduring.
