Description

Although I do find the Spider-Verse hugely interesting, I am kind of "old school" - which is why I was particularly interested in the pages with good ole Spidey in them instead. There were two pages, in particular, that I was very interested in as both contained huge as well as classic images of Mark Bagley's Spider-Man. I cannot believe that I managed to obtain both pages as well as a couple of other pages to boot. I didn't know what the price for the pages would be although I knew that I would definitely not be able to afford the fantastic DPS as well as the Spider-Boy pages (especially the one with his very first appearance). It was anyone's guess what the prices would be on these couple of pages I was really interested in, and I was truly amazed that they were priced reasonably by Nick. Yes, they were indeed priced reasonably, contrary to one or two comments during the show. I have been in the hobby long enough to be able to make an informed decision. That having been said, as I have said before, one should not impose one's views on others so I am going to say that for those who thought that the pages were priced unreasonably, you are most welcome to your view. Regardless, this is a lovely end page and an amazing splash of Spidey swinging in dramatic and characteristic style.

And just so that there is no misunderstanding, yes, I did ultimately obtain four pages from this particular issue, although I was orginally hoping to obtain just one of the two pages I had mentioned. But, as already alluded to above, I thought it was good value for the amount spent. Make no mistake - it was a large amount (for me at least) for all the pages, but there is no exact scientific formula as to how a page speaks to one and one ought also to be cognizant that prices aren't what they used to be, say, three decades ago. And, no, I did not preclaim them although I was glad to have been quick enough to claim them after the respective prices were stated - in fact, two other pages (with lower prices) were claimed well after the fact. As far as I could tell, only the splendid DPS appeared to be preclaimed, but the claimant agreed to pay the price when it was stated.

In any event, let's get back to this page. I am truly happy to have purchased it and look forward very much to seeing it in person soon.

The only real "bargain" of the issue, well done! Being old school myself, this was definitely my favourite page as well. The one and only, true Spider-Man!

Many thanks, Rubén!  The other page was very nice as well, although this was clearly more dynamic in many ways.

It's got several great images of Spidey, and so that's why there is a premium for it.

Many thanks, Michael!  I believe, though, that the premium could have been much higher.

C'mon, we just saw complaining about prices with Tradd Moore art and now this.  At the end of the day, it's worth what you value it at and not what valued at what someone says who won't be buying it anyways.

Thanks Marcus.  Yeah, someone has been posting in some private groups how the sales aren't real and some such.  It's disheartening, but I can't focus on that.  I need to focus on making the fans who watch and enjoy the show happy.

Many thanks, Marcus!  You are absolutely right.  We all need to respect what others value and not try to impose our values on them.

Unfortunately, Nick, there will always be naysayers in an imperfect world.  However, they are also entitled to their views, provided they don't keep harping on the fact that only they know best.  We should all live and let live.  That has always been my (admittedly naive) approach to the hobby all these past decades.

Many thanks, Nick, for an absolutely wonderful show!  We all appreciate what you do for the OA community (in generating interest in the hobby and helping those who are less fortunate or who have fallen on hard times, amongst many, many other things).  Kudos to you!

You got yourself a real Bagley Beauty here!  Nothing like a classic splashy image of Spider-Man swinging away after overcoming yet another monumental crisis.  Spidey forever!!  Major congrats on getting this one and the other great pages you got from this historic issue!

Many thanks, Paul!  Your killer DPS were the best pages in the book, in my view.  Many congrats on that and for all the other pages as well!

Once you see Spidey swinging and you see the bottom of his foot then no price is to great.

Many thanks, John!  As mentioned, however, the price for this piece was, in my view at least, a fair one.
