Meridian 1 p 19 - Middleton and Vines

This final of a three page sequence shows the reader just how nefarious a character Uncle Ilahn was in Meridian. After preventing an attack that he orchestrated, Ilahn starts a fire that burns Sephie's ancestral estate to the ground. It's a quiet moment in the scene that has far reaching consequences for the series.

In discussing page 17, I mentioned the lush fabrics. This page showcases the wood grain that (no pun intended - honest) runs throughout the Meridian series. Wood is a core part of the setting for the book and Middleton and Vines feature it here in a really gorgeous way. Not just the floor but also the door frame in the third panel. It's this kind of detail that shows me that Kessel, Middleton, and Vines had a really solid idea of the world they were creating.
