DescriptionRichard 'Dick' Cavalli was an amazing cartoonist best known for the comic strips "Morty Meekle" and its successor, "Winthrop", which ran in newspapers from 1956 to 1994.Well known and respected, his strips also ran in publications such as The Saturday Evening Post, Collier's, The Atlantic Monthly, and many more. Cavalli, who served in WWII was born in 1923 and passed in 1997. Unfortunately, I don't know what strip this art was intended for or used in. However, Betty Grable's Hollywood career spanned the years from 1929 to 1955, with her peak from about 1940 -1949. Additionally the GREAT Fleischer / Famous Studios Superman cartoons ran from 1941 to 1943, so it is likely it was a magazine gag cartoon from that time. Social/Sharing |
