Nightwing #97 Pg. 18 by Bruno Redondo

Once in a blue moon, my love for a run or artist triumphs over my apathy towards digital original art. A great example is the current "Nightwing" run by Tom Taylor & Bruno Redondo, this year again nominated for multiple Eisner Awards.

It's no secret that Bruno's been pouring a lot of creativity into his storytelling - definitely reminiscent of Aja's work on "Hawkeye" for me, and I love how that's on display here. The top panels show both players from each other's perspective. Then Nightwing proceeds to tranq the mob boss, to his surprise. I love how practically the scene is portrayed & then switches over to that comical reaction shot at the end.

Nightwing is my favorite DC character & I have been loving his comics for ages. They've not always been great, per say - looking at you, "Ric Grayson" -, but since Taylor-Redondo, the series has probably been at its best. It's either this run or the Dixon & McDaniel run, but it'd depend on my mood that day.

Regarding this artist proof - it features digital pencils & inks, as that's how Bruno does his published art. I received a certificate of authenticity from his rep, which was dated & has specific info on this page. On the backside of the page, it's signed by Bruno and marked by him in marker as the "original print".

I can't exactly pour over the pencils & inks here, but I dig his work & the storytelling on display nonetheless. So, that's more than good enough for me, in this case, & I'm honored to have a page from this already classic run.
