Spawn #300 Page 21 Prelim Sketch - Violator vs Spawn

I love each of these pencil prelim pieces that the Capullo’s sell on their website. Each one is a fun path into the creative process where you see Greg working out his panel layouts. Greg always has some of the best perspectives in his visual storytelling, so getting to see those take shape here is a treat. It’s always fun to compare these pieces to their published counterpart. Many times, by doing this, your brain unlocks what at first glance might just appear to be intense scribbles.

I found this one in the secondary market since Greg & Jamie are trying to limit repeat purchases given that this really is the cheapest way to get some piece of art used as part of Greg’s process.

This one is from the landmark Spawn #300, the launching point for Todd’s larger plans for the now expanded Spawn’s Universe.

The scene depicted here is battle between Violator & Spawn…talk about taking revisiting the past to kick off the future, right? Love that for this milestone issue, Greg was brought back into the fold!
