Description

Iron Man leads his team (Spider-Woman, Scarlet Witch, and U.S. Agent) to defend an Australian town against rampaging monsters. This spread is an excellent example of the fine linework which often characterized mid-90s work at Image, DC, and Marvel, without the anatomical excesses that sometimes accompanied it.

The three target marks across the top border indicate that there was once a surprint vellum overlay associated with this page, but it's no longer here. Several of the word balloons are now missing as well, evidenced by the ellipses of yellow glue left behind. The word effects "FRASSHHT" and "RRRRRARGHH" are stickers pasted on. Pencil writing on the back reveals that this DPS once sold for $20. Those were the days!

Nice DPS, and giant walking leaches are the worst!

This is cool and a career breakthrough for him.  Everything sold, so Marvel made even more titles and teams to take back market share and get artists that could be the next breakout star.  This was the first Marvel title in Califiore's career in 1995.  His earlier work on Armories and in the Deathmate mini showed that Valiant along with himself could hang with the Image crew and promoted the big two to want his talent.
