Description

Aikens executed this piece on toned paper to serve as the basis for the flesh tones and lustrous hair. The necklace in particular looks photo-realistic in person; my scan does not do it justice. It appears in the Batman section of his 2023 book The Art of Dave Aikins: Pop Culture Portrait Drawings Volume One. He uses Copic markers, black Prismacolor pencils, and white Posca paint pen.

Aikins makes his living primarily doing work on characters like Spongebob and Blues' Clues, and I got to see firsthand his delightful rapport with his fans of all ages.

Very pretty. The hair is lustrous and he skin has a warm undertone. All made up in the Catwoman look is still stunning!
