Description

Beautiful watercolor piece by the animation director and character designer for Leiji Matsumoto�s classic tv series, Galaxy Express 999. Kogawa has worked on so many incredible projects over the years including several Yamato films, Aura Battler Dunbine, Greed, Naruto and Evangelion to name a few. I feel very lucky to have a piece by such an amazing talent.

My Anime and Manga education may be sorely lacking, but I know enough to recognize the impact those forms have had on many of the comics industry's brightest talents. (Although I do remember having a great time at a Tezuka exhibit in SF some years back.) That being said, I think this is a wonderful example that I'm sure you're thrilled to have. I love the little eye catching details like the skull & crossbones and her scar.

Thanks Eric! That Tezuka exhibit was incredible. I wish I had visited it multiple times while it was here.

Pretty! The space pirate princess with a scar. The kind of anime that crossed over into after school cartoons that had the Toei quality that was far superior to the domestic animation on TV!

You know I LOVE this one!!!!!!!!!!!!! He really did Queen E and Matsumoto justice!
