11x17 watercolor paper (I think?), pen and watercolours

If I had a nickel for every time Scott Summers broke out of and burned down a prison in a cold, vengeful rage, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice. Funnily enough, Gabriel Hern�ndez Walta drew both incidents! This one is from Age of X: Alpha #1 where Scott is a tortured (I mean, moreso than usual) alternate version of himself called Basilisk that sports a cool facemask instead of the usual Cyclops visor.

This page was drawn and painted on a piece of heavy textured paper and it looks cool as hell up close. When I read this comic back in 2011 I had no idea that this part of it was painted. Same goes for the sound effect lettering. As an enjoyer of ridiculous comic book onomatopoeiae, having the CHOOOMM and VRAKOOOOMMM present on the page is pretty great too.

Spot on! Walta can make anyone look cool! The optic blast in that rich and bright red stands out against that drab winter environment. Very intimidating last image. Only way to top it is to have the eyes glowing.

Nice painted page, AGE OF X was pretty fun, I could have had a lot more of that world. Will see what comes next for us X fans!

most of his work is in B&W but some pages in some x-men issues are hand coloured
