Description

Our heroes take refuse in the cliffside mansion built on an alien world for Domino's mother. Unfortunately, Black Bess and her buccaneers have laid an ambush for them there, and a melee ensues. Isherwood offers a dramatic worms' eye view of Captain Raader in the first panel, including an "up the nostril" shot worthy of Gil Kane. Captain Scarlet is able to swing in an arc in panel four thanks to the rope around his waist. That's gotta hurt.

The first two panels on page 18 are replacements on a different board than the lower panels; both boards were cut and then taped together. Captain Raader's mouth in the first panel on page 20 was whited out and redrawn. Such corrections are uncommon in this book despite striving for a high degree of illustrative accuracy; Isherwood was thinking of the giants of early 20th century action strip art when he worked on this series.
