Description
I was hoping that I might have the opportunity to get a Joe Kubert sketch in my original sketchbook. Alas, the best I could do was get his signature in it when I saw him at one of the first Reed Pop New York Comicons. I subsequently learned that he would have a sketch option when his book "How to Draw From Life" was published. I was among the fortunate ones to be in time to buy the sketch option. What to ask him to sketch? I considered Hawkman but decided on Sgt. Rock because I had read so many Easy Company stories. I'm very happy that I got the sketch in 2009 because he suddenly passed away in 2012. I remember being shocked because he seemed so robust when I met him several years earlier at the con. He left behind a great body of work, which, as time has passed, I have gained a greater appreciation for.

The Rock drawing is really representative of Kubert's greatness.  It's got a rough and rawness to it that lays bare the humanity when put in a state of war.
