G.I. Joe: Special Missions (Special Missions #17 p.16)

Since starting comic art collecting several years ago, my goal has been to get a Trimpe GI Joe page - grateful to have accomplished that mission, Yo Joe!

Herb Trimpe drew a lot of GI Joe in the 80’s including the first issue and the run of 28 issues of GI Joe: Special Missions, which include several of my all-time favourite GI Joe stories. If I close my eyes and think of GI Joe comics, the sharp noses, squinty eyes and clean lines of Trimpe’s pencils are what I see.

This issue of special Missions introduces Muskrat, Hardball, Shockwave and Hit & Run to the Joes - that last panel of the new recruits following Stalker into action is everything I was wanting from a Trimpe Joe page!

(The art from the last panel was also re-coloured and used as the title page and end paper for GI Joe: Special Missions Volume 3)
