Description

A piece's layout and concept can be just as important as its execution. John Constantine peers through a gate in an alley in this moody composition. The graffiti on the back wall looks like a mystic sigil.

Browning intended to embellish it with wash. He started with bricks in the middle of the right margin and immediately realized that he had used a water-soluble ink that was smearing as he attempted to apply wash. Switching gears, he embellished the piece digitally instead. I picked this piece out of Browning's portfolio at Dragon Con 2023.
