Denys Cowan - BATMAN

Batman Day! From 1989, a unique Batman piece by Denys Cowan and friends.

I'm a big Denys cowan fan. Always been a fan of his art. It was researching Cowan art that I came across and met Angel Gabriele. I would email him often in the early 2000s asking a lot of questions. He helped identify some of the pieces he worked on that I owned. He answered any questions I had about Cowan art. He helped me set up my first commission from Denys back in 2008.


A collaboration between Denys Cowan, Angel Gabriele and Jeff Newman. These were done specifically to be sold at conventions. From my understanding Denys would pencil the figure (sometimes just a rough) and Angel would finish the piece in inks. I have a pencil and ink piece very similar to this one. The Jeff Newman part I'm not sure since I didn't own this piece while Angel was alive to ask. My best guess is this was a rougher sketch of the Batman figure and Angel and Jeff went to town on it adding a more detailed cityscape and airbrush to give a more finished look. An awesome looking Batman! Beautiful colors!
