DescriptionOriginal Cover Art - Karl Stephan (1923 - 1980).Cover of episode #11 of the early German science fiction pulp series TERRA NOVA. Published under the title 'Die Drohung aus dem All' (The Threat from Space) on July 19, 1968. Gouache on illustration board. TERRA NOVA is a German SF pulp series which was published from 1968 - 1971 (190 episodes). It basically was the successor of the older TERRA and TERRA EXTRA series. At this time, PERRY RHODAN was already the most successful SF series in Germany. Karl Stephan was the main illustrator of this series with approximaltely 150 covers. In the science fiction tradition of bringing futuristic war machines based on real and imagined weapons of their time period, this late 60's painting has that more realistic feel with war being shown in it's full impact on TV screens during this time period.
