"Dragon's Widow"

Ed creates a story to accompany his art; for "Dragon's Widow" he says:

"Would anyone really mourn the annihilation of a dragon, once it is finally destroyed and incinerated? Out of pity a town might allow its widow to keep the ashes, the last symbolic remnant of centuries of suffering. But there is always risk in dealing with dragons. Perhaps the grief is a show to buy time, a ploy to wait for attention to wane, for the stories to grow old and quiet. Who's to say that a dragon cannot be resurrected, reborn like a horrific phoenix by one who was taught the secret? It would not be surprising that she should covet and guard the funerary urn, as jealously as if it were the living beast itself."
