Description

Happy to finally add a strip from the 50’s to my Johnny Hazard collection! Robbins’ art goes through an interesting evolution in this decade where he tightens up a bit and his characters get a little more realistic compared to his 40’s work that was cartoony-er and more reflective of Caniff’s early Terry and the Pirates work. As far as the market goes it seems like this decade is the most sought after when it comes to Hazard originals so I kind of settled on the affordable example I could get my hands on. In the future now that I have an example from every decade and stylistic evolution Robbins went through on the strip I’ll look to possibly upgrade to nicer pieces.

Haha yeah the whole thing has a certain unintentional vibe to it. The first thing I actually thought about when I saw the strip is this hilarious picture of Frank and his wife on the beach with Jordi Bernet, this strip is about a decade before that pic though.
