Description

Last weekend meant a magical event that I had waited for since I saw my first Star Wars movie as a kid, "Return of the Jedi": I got to meet Mark Hamill.

For the rest of Fan Expo San Francisco during the end of November 2023, I managed to spend some time in the star-filled Artist Alley. And it was an impressive one for my first US show.

This fun 6”x 6” head shot was sitting in Kevin Maguire's portfolio & just called out to me. I love his funny take on these serious characters, like Batman. This was done in pencils, inks & color markers.

Maguire can do just about anything with facial expressions using these colors and ususally finds an in between moment we never get to see in the comics that grounds them as a person. This is a great one showing a Batman being very relatable.

LOVE THIS!

Any piece that makes Batman seem human is a great piece- and Maguire has a magic to his art that is unique.

I'm as much a fan of a brooding Bat, but I definitely agree it's fun to see him behaving like we all do!
