Description
Various sci-fi projects were released in the late 70's to try and capitalize on the success of of Star Wars. Seeker 3000, appearing in Marvel Premiere #41, was one of Marvel's less successful attempts. After this issue, the characters didn't appear again until 1998, when Marvel gave them a 4 issue mini-series.

I've seen this issue in many dollar back-issue bins over the years and I've always loved the Dave Cockrum / Joe Sinnott cover. The interior art by Tom Sutton was also very different and memorable for the time period. I was very happy to be able to pickup the detailed prelim recently.

Dave followed his own prelim very closely here, although some of the character designs changed somewhat in the final version. As usual, Dave added some humor to the prelim, changing the blurb from "The Last Hope for Mankind's Survival" to "The Last Whoop...".

As a reminder, I'm always interested in very finished Cockrum cover prelims, similar to the ones in this gallery.

Nice! Cockrum was a great cover designer. He and Hannigan are my favorites.

You'd think this was a quick money grab by Marvel since they already had the Star Wars license, but they did put thought into it with these taents behind it.  I would guess this counts as a pre first appearance piece with the conception of these characters.
