DescriptionThis was intended for the cover of Marvel Premiere #54, but the story was instead published a year later in Bizarre Adventures #27. Thanks to Bob Layton for confirming that this was Dave's work. Bob also kindly provided a low-res scan of the finished cover art, but he's not sure what happened to it. Maybe it'll turn up on CAF one of these days.Please note that artist credits on these Marvel prelims usually indicate the artist who was scheduled to draw the cover, not the artist who actually drew the prelim. DECEMBER 2021 UPDATE: When re-scanning the art, I noticed that there was different art beneath the Angel and Thing drawings. It looks like the original plan was to include Namor and Ms. Marvel instead. Since the art is on thin paper, I was able to scan the back of the art and flip the image and have now included the additional scan. By the way, none of those characters actually appear in the story except as ice sculptures, so this decision was probably just based on perceived popularity at the time. Social/Sharing |
