Description

I treasure every piece in the Common Elements gallery, but I'm especially proud to own this one.

Geof Isherwood and I discussed this piece literally for years before he found time in his busy schedule to draw it. The concept was simple: a pastiche of the iconic Abbey Road cover photo, but replacing the Fab Four with comic book Beetles -- specifically, the three historical iterations of Blue Beetle (Dan Garret, Ted Kord, and Jaime Reyes), plus the longtime Marvel villain The Beetle.

Even though I had imagined this image in my head for a very long time, Geof's rendering of it far surpassed my imagination. He was meticulous about every detail, down to the second-from-left figure (Paul in the original, Jaime here) being both out of step with the other three and barefoot. It's a rare artist these days who puts this much thoughtfulness into the craft.
