My intro to Mike Machlan was his inks on Byrne's West Coast Avengers, and then seeing some of his own work later. I think he does a nice job capturing Jack's Machine Man, or maybe in this case it's Kirby's Mister Machine because Mike specifically recalled the early chest emblem from the 2001: A Space Odyssey issues. Either way, I was happy to pick this up in the last Comic Art Live!

Fabulous pinup of Jack Kirby's Machine Man by Mike Machlan. Machlan really went all out to capture Kirby's original vision of Machine Man, originally drawn for the comic book version of "2001: A Space Odyssey." Machlan's inks are reminiscent of Kirby favorite Mike Royer's inks with his smooth flowing lines. And he even included "Kirby Krackle" in the background. Outstanding pick-up, congrats!
