Description

As per Wikipedia, Mister Magoo's Christmas Carol (1962) was the first animated Christmas special created for TV.

The original production is more of a "play within a play". Mr Magoo is a near-sighted stage actor. And that somehow is incorporated into his characterization of Scrooge. My memory of when I first watched it on TV, it was edited so that it appeared to be a straightforward telling of the original story.

The actual "play within a play" version is on the DVD.

This sequence is when Scrooge and the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come visit the Cratchit family and learn Tiny Tim has passed.

A Christmas Carol was written by Charles Dickens.

Mr. Magoo was created by Millard Kaufman and John Hubley.

Mr. Magoo (of course) was voiced by Jim Backus .

Love that third board because of all the Magoo shots, but my favorite has to be the first shot on the first board with Magoo and the Spirit in the alley. Happy Holidays buddy!

What a tear jerker! If it's not shown as a play within a play, the emotion of the scene is heightened and they gleefully traumatized young kids.
