Description

A few weeks ago, I saw a gorgeous Spider-Man commission by Maxi Dallo. It immediately put the Argentinian artist on my radar. As luck would have it, I saw that Splash Page Comic Art was advertising commissions for OAX later this month.

While I can't make it to the show, I still reached out and got on the mail away list. Before confirming, I'd asked for a few lay-outs - for all of which Maxi had great ideas. In the end, the atypical composition stole the show and convinced me to go this route.

Within a few days, I got the message that it was completed & ready to be shipped out. Less than a week later, it arrived safe and sound. Throughout the whole process, Mark from Splash Page made sure the whole deal was a ten out of ten experience. Amazing & clear communication.

The result is this greatly balanced out commission, with a balance between black & white, leveled up by a great point of view. At the centre of it is one of the best couples in comics, enjoying some burgers on a carefree afternoon. A typical "slice of life" commission, just the way I love them.

This piece was done in pencils & inks, on 11x17 art board.

So cool that the commission experience was made so easy! It's a very fun layout and scene you can find in different medium where Spidey is just free to be a teenager hangning out with MJ! The extreme perspective of the skyscraper vantage point is a nice contrast to put a bit more edge and danger in there.

He really is! It's crazy how he exploded over the last few weeks. Great to see he was able to re-use the other Spidey/MJ prelims for this commission, too! Thanks, Matt!
