DescriptionNicely composed and sympathetic rendering (considering the time period) of an African-American couple at a soda bar. Reverse of the board indicates it was done for "The Parade", Redbook Magazine 1933, but I haven't been able to verify that.Social/Sharing |

Slice of life of during the depression era of America and even more rare with the historical African American experience depicted from the time of racial segregation. It is done with skill and care to show this idealized portrait for the masses.

Beautiful, and a bit tragic that this middle-class portrayal became verboten in popular media for a long time.Thanks for sharing it.
