Description

From the backup story Chall Without a Memory as Red Ryan explains how he cheated death. Arnold Drake's run on Challengers was a lot of fun, with crazy bad guys, but rock solid stories. Bob Brown's artwork was also spot on. As a kid I never appreciated Bob Brown's work as much as I do now.

And Arnold Drake was a great writer in those days with Doom Patrol and Challs being standouts when I was younger and still enjoyable today. Sadly no reprints were ever done of the era for the Challengers. I think DC misses the boat in not reprinting a lot of their catalog or at least setting up a print on demand library.

Fun and quirky DC adventure stories of the Silver Age are a delight to read through. Usually they are one off tales that have a lesson or clever twist for the hero to overcome and a nice excuse to give the artist stories that tests their artistic range like we see here.
