Description
Avengers Annual #1 pinup pencils Don Heck; women of the Avengers - Black Widow, Wasp, Scarlet Witch

A great example of how underrated Don was as Avengers' artist. He had a strong reputation as rendering the most attractive women in comics and this page might be the finest example of that. The early Marvel annuals were very generous in giving us bonus material like this pinup.

Thank goodness treasures like this still exist to remind us that, while he spent most of his career being under appreciated, Heck certainly belongs on the list of Marvel greats.

Many congrats on a very nice (and in many ways unique) piece of artwork.  Heck did draw very nice female superheroes and you have all three of the leading ones in the title he was famous for on one page.

What a trio of Heck's Angels!  The bad girl aspect of Wanda and Natasha made them even more appealing.  Heck would get to show off more of this cheesecake side of his art when he did solo Black Widow stories in Amazing Adventures #6-8, and then MJ and Gwen in ASM 59-63.

One of the best pages Don ever did!  I remember this one very well.  Don was a fashion illustrator by training.  I never agreed with Stan's decision to put Buscema on the Avengers.  Don was settling into being THE Avengers artist.  He needed inks by Giacoia to look his best.  In fact, IMHO, if Stan had assigned Giacoia exclusively over Don's pencils on Avengers, we would be talking about his run as comparable to the Kirby/Sinnott run on the FF.

Congrats on owning this gem!!

I stood staring at this last weekend at OAX. I was mesmerized by it. Congratulations on getting to see that everyday.  Don Heck/Avengers 26 was my first comic so this is special

I absolutely would love that. I am lucky that I am only a 2 hour drive from West Palm Beach, so I will be attending.

Agreed, Don was one of the best artists who drew female characters!  So underappreciated.  This is a FANTASTIC example!

Classic stuff!  Gorgeous Heck renditions of each lady here, but Wanda, she takes the cake!  Big congrats, Andrew!

Too cool... there is a fiery envy in my brain! This would be epic if it only featured Don's co-creation Natasha, but his Janet and Wanda are to die for, as well. Congrats on a wonderful pinup!
